TYAN Virtual Thematic Workshops in Mathematics

The TYAN Virtual Thematic Workshops in Mathematics is a series of workshops which has been organized regularly over the last year. It aims at bringing together reputed mathematicians, in order to discuss and promote high level Mathematics in different fields and subjects, keeping into account diversity and geographic balance of the participants, and with special focus in developing countries.

The workshops are organized by TYAN (TWAS Young Affiliate Network), TWAS-LACREP (Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Partner of The World Academy of Sciences), The Young Academy of Argentina and The Brazilian Mathematical Society. Also, this event is supported by the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the Mexican Mathematical Society.

Members of the scientific committee of the event are the following distinguished mathematicians: Alicia Dickenstein (Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina), Carlos Kenig (University of Chicago, USA), Maria José Pacífico (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Paolo Piccione (Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil) and Renato Iturriaga (CIMAT, Mexico).

The organizing committee of the event is made up of the following TYAN members: Eduardo Teixeira (University of Central Florida, USA), Ferrán Valdez (Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Mexico), Franco M. Cabrerizo (Universidad Nacional de San Martín, Argentina), Hernan Grecco (Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Jaqueline Godoy Mesquita (Universidade de Brasília, Brazil).

During the year 2020 three workshops of the series have been carried out, and they were dedicated to the following themes: Dynamical Systems, Nonlinear Dynamical Systems and Delay Equations, and Algebra. The next edition is scheduled to happen on September 27, 2021 and the main theme of the workshop will be “Partial Differential Equations”. This will be an online event,  delivered via the platform Zoom.
