Agenda & Meeting Summary:

The meeting between the TYAN delegation and representatives of the National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NSLC) was held on May 16th, 2024, at the Academician’s Hall of NSLC. The primary theme of the meeting was exploring opportunities for Open Science.

1. Opening Remarks: Dr. LIU Xiwen, Director of NSLC, welcomed the attendees and emphasized the significance of fostering collaborations in Open Science to enhance global scientific communication and innovation.

2. Introduction of the General Information and Business System of NSLC: Dr. WANG Jun (Officer of S&T Management Office) provided an overview of NSLC’s infrastructure, services, and its pivotal role in supporting scientific research through comprehensive literature and information services.

3. Introduction of Open Science Practices of NSL, CAS: Ms. XIAO Man detailed the ongoing Open Science initiatives at NSLC, highlighting their efforts to promote transparency, accessibility, and collaboration in scientific research.

4. About TYAN: Dr. Franco Cabrerizo, Chair of TYAN, introduced TYAN’s mission and activities, emphasizing their commitment to fostering young scientists’ involvement in global research initiatives and Open Science practices.

5. Discussion on the Opportunity of Cooperation: A productive discussion ensued, focusing on potential collaborative projects, resource sharing, and the development of joint Open Science programs. Both parties expressed enthusiasm for future cooperation to advance Open Science initiatives.

The meeting successfully identified several areas for potential cooperation between TYAN and NSLC, particularly in promoting Open Science. Both parties are committed to leveraging their strengths to foster a more transparent and collaborative scientific environment.
